Open source software’s are taking the world for a storm. These freeware softwares are ready to be downloaded via the internet and shared as opposed to the proprietary commercial softwares.

Some of the known products like Eclipse, Apache Server, Tomcat, Bugzilla, CVS ,Openoffice and Sugar CRM are all open source softwares. Operating systems like Linux also come under this genre.

Opensource.org is the organization that maintains and approves open source applications.

Even the social networking giant- Facebook has become open source and now is accepting third party API’s and applications.
