Why Facebook is called as ‘Facebook’?

6 January 2010 2 Comments

Facebook has changed the way we communicate and broadcast our messages. Staying in touch was never so easy. Come 2010, and the word social networking is no longer confined to a lousy site filled with only profiles, fans and scraps.

Real Time Live Search Results have not only made the New Feed more interactive, but also more effective during crisis and topics of worldwide interest.

‘Are you on facebook’ has become the new ‘Can I have your cell number?’

That leaves us with one question, why is facebook called as Facebook, I think what Mark Zuckerberg had it in mind, when he saw a Year book of his batchmates, was to create a page for his batch mates, with faces speaking, murmuring, updating messages - all in Real Time.

And when he sat down developing a GUI prototype in his university, he made a private network and named it as Facebook - to represent a digital Slam Book that can be preserved and shared online.

“People are updating their status every hour, linking it with Twitter, and even replying to wall posts while walking on the streets. This is so wacky. ” says Masoom Tulsiani,CEO of Seo Donuts Inc, an emerging Internet Marketing Company.

With Facebook hitting the 200 million users mark soon, with users from each and every continent - including Antartica and With over 100 million users actively online, Mark Zuckerberg can be termed as one of the most successful webpreneurs that was ever born on the Internet.

The most amazing thing about Facebook, is the way people of all aged- groups have accepted it as a part of their lives, just another example of how people are accepting technology, new means of staying in touch with family and friends.
