Samsung Omnia PRO B7320 Review and Features

Samsung Omnia Pro Features

I got my hands on Samsung Omnia during the first week of it’s launch. PRO B7320 appears to be a European version of the existing Samsung i637 Jack phone, available on AT&T Wireless. In truth, the Omnia name really doesn’t fit here. Sure, the B7320 has GPS(read as Google Maps), but it also comes with a smallish 2.4″ display. We’re not saying that the B7320 is a bad phone, it’s just that in the past the Omnia name has been used only for very high end devices. Having said this, the Samsung Omnia seemed like an ideal phone for my college and helped me with a lot of engineering tasks specially it’s GPRS Internet and advanced office applications.

That display is a standard 2.4″ 320 x 240 pixel non-touch panel, pretty similar to the sort of thing you would find in a normal mobile phone. We don’t see many non-touchscreen Windows phones these days, and because of this the Omnia PRO B7320 runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard rather than Professional, although the basic functionality is still very similar.

The camera is a 3 megapixel unit with autofocus, but does not work pretty well in the night. The 3.15 MP camera  is capable of taking images upto 2048×1536 pixels and videos upto 30fp

GPS is built in, but the B7320 isn’t really suited as a SatNav replacement because of the small display. The Omnia PRO B7320 comes with WiFi, and it supports 3.5G HSDPA download speeds of up to 3.6 Mbps.

Of course, as a Windows Mobile device it comes with things like a web browser and multimedia player, and in the case of the B7320 it also integrates with Facebook, MySpace,Twitter and popular instant messaging clients.

Email is obviously a key feature of a device like this, and the B7320 supports standard email clients plus push email from Microsoft Exchange. Despite its fairly unexciting feature set, the B7320 is likely to be a very practical messaging device and worth considering as an alternative to a BlackBerry.

A couple of other noteworthy features on the Omnia PRO B7320 are the large 1480 mAh battery, and the fact the Samsung say that this (and all Omnia devices) should be updatable to Windows Mobile 6.5 when it comes out.

There’s no word on pricing or availability, but the AT&T version of the B7320 is already on sale, so we don’t think it will be a very long wait. If we had to guess at pricing, we would suggest that the Omnia PRO B7320 would cost something in the region of €350 SIM-free.

Some key capabilities that scores 5 on 5

  • Skype Application and Tweetdeck work likes a charm in Samsung Omnia, thanks to the Windows Mobile OS.
  • With Push Email your emails is a finger tip away. Easy Synchronization which lets you schedule your email checks.
  • The camera deserves a mention, Samsung Omnia has a crystal clear video recording option.
  • Internet Explorer is not too bad either to surf those e-commerce business sites and full version social
  • Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 uses Windows mobile OS 6.1 upgradable to upcoming Windows mobile 6.5.
  • MS Office Suite and inbuilt PDF Reader

The 3.15 MP camera  autofocus camera is capable of taking images upto 2048×1536 pixels and videos upto 30fps .There is a secondary camera for video calling .This phone offers a TFT, 65K color screen with full QWERTY keyboard .Qualcomm 7201A processor with about 530MHZ and internal memory of 70MB provides one of the best processing power in this class . Office productivity applications ,email ,WiFi ,EDGE ,Bluetooth, neat 7 hour talk time and 288 hr standby time provided by Li-Ion 1480 mAh are other notable specifications of Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 .With this features its definitely  great buy if you are looking for business phone under 15,000 Rs

Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 India price is: Rs. 15,000 and US Market price is ($320) As on November’2009.
